After making two separate e-portfolios, I think starting up an account on Blackboard Learning Management System was much easier and straight-forward than on CUNY Academic Commons. However, CUNY Academics Commons provides many more options and looks more professional than Blackboard Learning Management System. While I was trying to make an account on Commons, I found myself having a variety of tools and options that gave me the liberty to customize my page exactly the way I wanted. On the contrary, Blackboard Learning Management System did not provide much options and had a very limited customization menu. One cool feature that I like on CUNY Academic Commons is the ability to create sub-pages. For example, on the right side of my home page, I have listed SOAP NOTES and if you click on it, it will show multiple sub-pages that I’ve attached to it. Not only it looks professional and official but it also helps organize the page better. I also like how Blackboard Learning Management System tries to keep the information organized, by allowing you to make new artifacts folders and it’s easier to either add or delete material. On CUNY Commons, figuring out how to add, delete and creating sub-pages took me a while and was a bit confusing. Both on Blackboard Learning Management System and CUNY Academic Commons have their ups and downs and personally, I like CUNY Academic Commons better. Yes, its hard at first to figure it out, but once you do get the hang of it, it’s a great tool to use.
